About the Role

KYC and compliance analysts support financial institutions and regulated businesses in understanding customers, verifying information and identifying potential financial-crime risks. A German-speaking analyst may review customer documentation or communicate with counterparties in Germany, Austria and Switzerland while working with a compliance or operations team in Ireland. German fluency is useful for interpreting records and obtaining clear information; English is generally required for internal policies, case documentation and escalation. The role may involve customer due diligence, beneficial ownership checks, screening alerts, periodic reviews or remediation work. Analysts must distinguish routine information gaps from cases requiring specialist review and follow documented procedures rather than make unsupported assumptions. Depending on the employer, work may be subject to financial-services regulation, audit requirements and strict information-security controls. Experience can lead to enhanced due diligence, AML investigations, sanctions operations, compliance advisory or team leadership. The applicable regulatory framework, systems and decision-making authority depend on the hiring entity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review customer identification and due-diligence documentation.
  • Assess beneficial ownership and business-profile information against procedures.
  • Investigate screening alerts and document findings without overstepping authority.
  • Communicate clearly with German-speaking customers or internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain complete, auditable case records and evidence trails.
  • Escalate unusual activity, red flags or policy exceptions appropriately.
  • Support periodic customer reviews and remediation of missing information.
  • Protect sensitive records and comply with access-control requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Professional German fluency and good English communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and evidence-based reasoning.
  • Ability to follow policies and document decisions clearly.
  • Confidentiality and sound handling of sensitive customer information.
  • Interest in financial crime prevention and regulatory compliance.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in banking operations, onboarding, KYC or AML.
  • Knowledge of customer due diligence, sanctions screening or beneficial ownership.

What You Can Expect

Depending on the employer, opportunities may include:

  • Competitive base salary depending on employer and experience
  • Potential performance-related bonus or commission where relevant
  • International working environment and cross-border collaboration
  • Training, professional development and possible career progression
  • Possible hybrid working or relocation support where offered

Benefits and arrangements vary by employer.
