About the Role
Customer support specialists are often the first point of contact for customers who need clear, timely help with a product or service. In this type of role, you would answer enquiries from German-speaking customers, investigate problems and make sure each interaction ends with an understandable next step. Opportunities may arise with technology companies, subscription businesses, online marketplaces and international service teams based in Ireland. German proficiency matters because customers expect precise explanations and a natural, reassuring experience in their own language. English is equally useful for collaborating with colleagues in product, billing, operations and engineering. Depending on the organisation, the work may involve phone, email, live chat or a combination of channels. Strong performers can build expertise in complex cases, quality assurance and customer experience improvement. Over time, the role can provide a route into team leadership, customer success, operations or training. The exact channels, hours and responsibilities depend on the employer and any confirmed vacancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to German-language enquiries through the support channels used by the employer.
- Investigate account, billing or product issues and explain practical resolutions.
- Record accurate case notes and outcomes in a customer support platform.
- Escalate technical or sensitive cases using agreed procedures and response times.
- Identify recurring questions and contribute to knowledge-base improvements.
- Coordinate with billing, product and operations colleagues when cases cross teams.
- Maintain service quality, confidentiality and appropriate handling of customer data.
Essential Requirements
- Professional German fluency, normally C1 or equivalent practical ability.
- Good written and spoken English for internal collaboration.
- Clear communication, patience and sound problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organise multiple enquiries and follow defined processes.
- Comfort using digital tools and learning new support systems.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or a similar ticketing tool.
- Previous customer-facing, retail, hospitality or contact-centre experience.
What You Can Expect
Depending on the employer, opportunities may include:
- Competitive base salary depending on employer and experience
- Potential performance-related bonus or commission where relevant
- International working environment and cross-border collaboration
- Training, professional development and possible career progression
- Possible hybrid working or relocation support where offered
Benefits and arrangements vary by employer.
